Dr. Arijit Das is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, Punjab, India. Prior to joining TIET, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair for Dynamics, Control, Machine Learning, and Numerics—Alexander von Humboldt Professorship—in the Department of Mathematics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität, Germany. He earned his PhD in June 2024 from the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, India. Dr. Das’s research revolves around the mathematical and numerical analysis of integro-differential equations, particularly in the context of particulate processes such as aggregation and fragmentation dynamics, as well as wave turbulence kinetics. His work has been widely recognized through publications in several prestigious journals. As an expert in his field, Dr. Das also serves as a reviewer for numerous high-impact journals and contributes to Mathematical Reviews (MathSciNet) of the American Mathematical Society.

Description of Research Interests:

  • His research focuses on the mathematical and numerical analysis of integro-differential equations, aiming to the study of real-world processes like particle evolution in coagulation and fragmentation dynamics, as well as wave turbulence kinetics. He concentrates on the following primary areas:
  • Mathematical Analysis: He is dedicated to the analysis of solutions to the coagulation fragmentation models exploring existence, non-existence, and uniqueness characteristics.
  • Asymptotic Analysis: His research also delves into the asymptomatic behavior of these solutions, particularly interested in investigating properties such as gelation, shattering or decay of energy.
  • Numerical Approximations: To complement the theoretical investigations, he also involved in developing numerical schemes utilizing sectional methods, including finite volume, fixed pivot technique, etc. His work also encompasses a thorough convergence and stability analysis of these numerical approximations.
