Biography
Dr. Arvind Kumar Lal has been serving as a Professor in the School of Mathematics at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Patiala, since 2017. He obtained his Master degree (M.Sc.) in Mathematics from Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, in 1987, and completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1995. Prior to his appointment at TIET in January 1996, Dr. Lal was a Lecturer in Mathematics at the Technological Institute of Textile and Science, Bhiwani, from January 1994 to March 1995. With over 25 years of experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics courses at TIET, Dr. Lal has mentored ten Ph.D. and eighteen M.Sc. students. His research contributions include the publication of 64 papers in peer-reviewed journals, of which 30 are in SCI-indexed journals, 27 in non-SCI journals, and 7 in conference proceedings. He has successfully completed five research projects and is currently leading one ongoing project, serving as the Principal Investigator for all of them. Dr. Lal also held the position of Head of the School of Mathematics at TIET, Patiala, from May 11, 2015, to June 15, 2018. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has played a significant role in various administrative duties both within and outside the institute.
